VINWATER highlights the importance of professional skills, creativity, quality and information technology. Dutch people have been known for water management and flood prevention. From the medieval period to now, thanks to the experiences and techniques in water management, spatial planning, water planning and water quality management, Dutch people have always succeeded in protecting their land against the threat of ocean and sea encroaching reclamation work.

"With the cooperation and support from my colleagues at the University of TUDelft of the Netherlands, we will join hands to deploy and apply international solutions for the practical environment in Vietnam, aiming to meet the needs of domestic and international organizations, as well as addressing the challenges of the water sector in Vietnam", Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Kim, Rector of the Water Resources University (WRU), said at the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dirk Jan van den Berg, Rector of the University of TUDelft, expressed his optimism about the development potential of VINWATER. He hoped that the establishment of VINWATER would contribute to the development of the water sector in Vietnam, enrich the water management ability of Vietnam and consolidate cooperation relations between Vietnam and the Netherlands.

Ms. Melanie Schultz, Minister of Infrastructure and Environment of the Netherlands, also expressed her excitement at seeing this huge step in the cooperation relations between the two universities, and said the Netherlands can play a role in supporting Vietnam in irrigation, environmental management and natural disaster prevention, which are urgent problems in Vietnam, especially as Vietnam is still dealing with the aftermath of Typhoon haiyan and flood season 2013./.
